We use Mathletics because it switches kids onto maths, it’s fun, supportive and effective for students of all ages and abilities helping students achieve across the full curriculum
The Supported Return To School Program at Campbelltown works with students on long suspension from schools in Sydney's South West to provide engaging learning & behaviour support that improve the student's chance of success on their return to school.
The suspension centre at Campbelltown started in 2007 and is one of 22 similar centres within the NSW Department of Education. While each centre is based on general guidelines their operation and management varies depending on their context and the skills/expertise of staff. The centre operates with a head teacher and school learning support officer, and specifically cater for students while they are on long suspension from school. 2016 the title changed to (Campbelltown Supported Return To School Program).
Supported Return to School Program
-Students attend two hours per day for the term of suspension up to 20 days. -We teach ability and age appropriate curriculum delivered through personalised online learning. -Opportunities to work on incomplete projects and assignments. -Incorporate social skills and behaviour strategies to assist students to manage future issues.
An integrated curriculum delivered within a 100% online learning environment. While at the Supported Return to School Program students work one to one with MacBook computers using a specially designed Moodle virtual learning environment to cover content and skills from a variety of curriculum areas. This online learning program allows for personalised, engaging resources to be accessed and are based on a narrative learning style delivering content to enable access for students with a range of academic abilities and motivation.
Campbelltown
Online Learning Environment
When a student is placed on long suspension the school, parents and/or community workers contact the head teacher at the centre to arrange an interview to assess the learning needs of the student and arrange a starting date. A personalised learning program is developed by the centre with additional information coming from the school after the participation of the student is confirmed. Generally students begin attending within 1 to 2 days after making initial contact.
